2/12/16 blog by Jason

Friday was the first day that we visited Nagisa High School accompanying the students that hosted us. Personally, this entailed walking to the train station, riding the train, and then walking some more to reach the school. This is an interesting difference between Japan and America; in America, expecting students to walk such distances would be unheard of. I think it's good that students are expected to have the independence and responsibility to do this when they are young.

Afterwards, we visited the teachers at the morning meeting which all of them attend. Isabel gave an introduction, which was very good and the teachers were impressed. After that, we visited our classrooms briefly before returning to the library for an introduction to the school and a tour. Nagisa high school is very big, and I thought it was confusing. However, it is very beautiful.

Later, we made pottery to give to our host families. We learned from the teacher who has been at Nagisa the longest, and he was very kind and very helpful. Finally, we returned to the library to do homework.

I like Nagisa High School a lot, and am looking forward to the rest of our experience here!
