2.9.2016 blog by Megan Ramirez

Today was the first day of school at Miyazaki! The drive to school was really beautiful there are Japanese style houses groups of kids in scarfs riding there bikes to school. There where even some elementary schoolers with cute backpacks on there way.
When we got to school you could tell they where excited everyone who passed was looking our way and those people and teacher around us greeted us good morning. When we went to our first class people yelled welcomes and others would shy away. Regardless they all where interested even the people in other classrooms where coming by.
The self introductions where nerve racking, it's one thing to introduce yourself another to do it in another language regardless everything went really well. Even Ben said some of his in Japanese!
We toured around school it was amazing, green houses, a health care class, and even mechanic classes. They gave us flowers and let us pick kinkan, which is a citrus fruit that you eat whole (seeds included), it was really fun!
At the end of school we meet our host families, my host mom was there, she so sweet! After we went to an arcade with Karina and her host sister, it was so cool there we took photo booth pictures and tried to win the crane game! ...we didn't win but it was fun trying! After my host dad and brother picked us up and we all went to conveyer belt sushi where we meet the rest of Karina's family! It was great I tried all sorts of sushi, calamari, horse, shrimp with mayo, etc! It was really delicious.
Tadaima! (I'm home!)
At my new home we talked and were in the living room futon. The futon was really amazing, at the bottom in went into the ground and was heated! When me and my host sister finally went to our room (we shared a room which was a great experience) we talked and she was studying for her test the next day so I was working on an art project of our family at sushi earlier that night, we didn't also have stuff to say but that didn't matter cause we where still hanging out with each other and having a great time!
I'm really gonna miss them~
It's only two days, but two days is a lot of time to make new memories.
